WMS Coral Woods Conservation Area Foray

With little rain, the woods were quite dry, somewhat unusual for the time of year. Some large specimens of Jack O Lanterns (Omphalotus illudens) and Hen of the Woods (Grifola Frondosa) were collected, though the Grifola was rather dried out and past their prime for cooking.

The brightly colored Jack O'Lantern glows at night. The gills luminesce. Sometimes mistaken for Chanterelles, this is a poisonous fungi.
