May 14 (Saturday ) Southern Kettle Moraine Foray (morels possible)
10 AM to Noon. Please note location within South Kettle has CHANGED due to a runner's event at our original location. Check your email for details & always be sure to check spam folder. We will meet at the Ottawa Lake Campground Visitor's Center Parking Lot.

May 19 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation by Gabrielle Cerberville, Composer, pianist, artist, foraging and fungi expert, & Tik Tok's "Chaotic Forager"

June 10-11 (Friday-Saturday) "Bioblitz" species survey event at Bristol Woods County Park by the Milwaukee Public Museum, Pringle Nature Center, and Kenosha County Parks. Together we will ensure fungi are represented and well-surveyed! Read more about MPM-supported Bioblitz events here.

June 16 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation by Rose Tursi, "The State of State Mushrooms" -Zoom opens 6:30 PM CST, presentation at 7 PM, live Q&A by 8 PM

August 10 (Wednesday) Governor Thompson State Park near Crivitz, WI
10 AM to 12 PM, with visiting foray leader, William Padilla-Brown who spoke to WMS in the past! Exact meeting place was sent to members by email.

August 25 - 28th, (Thurs.-Sunday) Bayfield Rustic Camping - Bayfield, WI

September 3 (Saturday) Mosquito Hill Foray - near New London, WI

September 8 - 11th (Thurs.-Sunday) Baronett Tri County Foray by the Northwestern Wisconsin MycoEnthusiasts. This is not a WMS event, but is by a regional WI club & we encourage you to check it out here.

September 15 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation live from Northwoods Foray in Cable WI - meeting opens 6:30 PM CST, presentation at 7 PM.

September 15 - 18th (Thurs.-Sunday) Northwoods Foray - Cable, WI
Foray begins 16th, but check-in is available evening of Thursday September 15.
North American Mycological Association (NAMA) is our co-host, making this a NAMA regional foray!

September 25 (Sunday) Yellowstone Lake State Park near Blanchardville, WI
12 PM to 2 PM, exact meeting place to be sent to members by email.

September 23rd, 24th, and 25th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) The 6th Annual Mycelium Mysteries conference by Midwest Women's Herbal in Almond, WI.
WMS supports this event run by Midwest Women's Herbal and we encourage all fungi-loving women to attend! Check out more about this web of women's myco wisdom here.  You can attend one, two, or all three days of this conference.


September 28 to October 2 (Wednesday to Sunday) North American Mycological Association (NAMA) Annual Foray - namyco.org/annual_foray.php at Trout Lodge near Potosi, Missouri for NAMA members.

Cancelled event due to permitting issues: Coral Woods Foray, collaboration by WMS and the Illinois Mycological Association. Coral Woods is in McHenry County, Illinois. We will see about having this event with IMA next Fall, 2023!

October 20 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation by Jon Sommer of the Colorado Mycological Society with class on identifying fungi and getting a handle on fungal forms and taxonomy. This is presentation is welcoming to beginners but will have something for all levels of mycoloigcal knowledge!

October 30 (Sunday) Fungi Fair! a WMS event hosted by the Polish Center of Wisconsin. There will be mushroom cooking demos with food to eat by chefs, excellent mushroom vendors from the community, and a table of interesting fungi specimens found at our forays. 10 AM to 4 PM.

November 17 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation by Tavis Lynch on the upcoming changes to Wisconsin law around selling foraged fungi and the new Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) certification program for foragers
- meeting opens 6:30 PM CST, presentation at 7 PM.

December 15 (Thursday) WMS on Zoom presentation will be a year-in-review and Winter Holiday celebration before our yearly membership vote.

If you are in need of an ID consider uploading quality photos with multiple views of your specimen and descriptions of your find to Mushroom Observer or iNaturalist including our projects or post in Wild Food Wisconsin or Mushroom Identification Group.

If you contact us and provide a way to get back to you, we may be able to provide suggestions for more identification resources you can use.
You are always responsible for your own decisions taken on the basis of identification resources.

Wisconsin Mycological Society (WMS) is dedicated to the study and enjoyment of mushrooms and other fungi throughout the state of Wisconsin. Education, safety, sustainability, community, and connecting with nature are our goals. 

We are affiliated with NAMA, a society that covers all of North America and includes many affiliate clubs. We also love to support regional  Wisconsin clubs and fungi related events. This includes the Madison Mycological Society and the Northwestern Wisconsin MycoEnthusiasts.
