Arne Martinson is the co-owner of Northern Mushroom Tours with his wife Peyton. It is a company based in Bayfield specializing in personalized outdoor mushroom education.
Arne first became interested in mushrooms when he was a child picking mushrooms with his uncle Loras. However the real obsession didn’t begin until he received an advertisement when he was 14 for Telluride mushroom festival and he went with his mother. There, Arne met so many wonderful people like Britt Bunyard, Tradd Cotter, and Gary Lincoff. Britt advised Arne to join the Wisconsin Mycological Society and he has been a member for many years since then.
Arne has become a frequent foray leader for WMS in the northern part of the state and he has had the pleasure of hosting and helping to organize the Rustic Camping Foray in Bayfield, WI. Arne also teaches a standalone month-long course on beginner mushroom foraging for the Cable Natural History Museum.
