Melissa Klotka has been a board member since 2019 and is on every WMS committee this year. Melissa is a Foray Director for Tri-County Foray and Rustic Camping and is a Co- Committee Chair for the Events Committee and the Wisconsin Wild Mushroom Certification Class. Her focus when she started in 2019 was to have more events to cover the entire state of Wisconsin with events all of our members in the state can attend. Since that time, she has increased the number of forays from 8 to 22 one day forays, and has been instrumental in adding the Northwoods Foray retreat to the WMS umbrella as well as creating the Rustic Camping Foray, and Tri-County Foray retreats.
Melissa has actively been focusing on increasing the online presence of WMS on Facebook and Instagram as well through the Marketing committee. Melissa also was the co-creator of the Wisconsin Wild Mushroom Certification Class that WMS developed for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Melissa attends many events, and loves to meet and get to know all of the members. She can't wait to see all of the new and familiar faces at next year's events for WMS!
Wisconsin Mycological Society is a North American Mycological Association (NAMA) affiliated club. Melissa helps manage their Facebook page and is on the NAMA marketing committee. She has attended several national NAMA events, and hopes to become even more engaged with NAMA in the future.
Melissa has a Bachelor's of Business Administration from UW-Whitewater and has her own business doing art restoration.
Though Melissa does not plan to run again for WMS President roll this year, she plans on still being a very active member of the WMS board and continue to work on the WMS committees in the future.
